Look around you. Look around you. Just look around you. What do you see? A tree. A weather-vane. A discarded lollipop-wrapper. A traffic shop. All of these things, and any other things you may care to mention, have one thing in common. Can you work out what it is? The first series of this British comedy show, filmed in 2002, was a send-up of the earnest programmes for schools made in the 1960s and 1970s. The second series (2005) is a friendlier spoof of the BBC's own slightly wacky 'Tomorrow's World' programme…

    Music 2000

    Synthesiser Patel joins the Look Around You team, Peter, Jack, Pealy and Pam, to look at the future today! Marvel at the way music in the future might be made by keyboards called 'synthesisers' that can make just about any sound in the world, except for the bassoon. Find out what we will be listening to in the year 2000 in the Music 2000 contest and don't forget the invention of the week.

    Health

    Peter, Jack, Pealy and Pam are back in another healthful look at the future. How could Jack be more attractive? See for yourself after he comes to grips with Medibot, a harmonica-playing, qualified plastic surgeon who is also a robot. Pam takes a serious look at cobbles, and Pealy gets her teeth into electronic toothpaste.

    The team look at the future of sport. They hear about a wonder serum for long-distance athletes and look at two new hybrid sports, 'Gonnis' and 'Dencing'. They are joined by Ros Lamb, the southport sparrow, Championess, the horse, an Ant Derby and the Jackson clones.

    As our lives have become busier, there has been less time for food. However, one solution has been to eat 'fast food', and it seems that Britain's favourite kind of fast food is casserole. The BBC's crack science team get to grips with food, from the latest fully automated casserole restaurant to Slimby's patented weight-loss system. Peter, Jack, Pealy and Pam tuck into another menu from the future.

    Live Final

    The Look Around You Invention of the Year Award comes to you live from BBC Television Centre in Shepherd's Bush, London. Six leading inventors are in the studio hoping to take the big trophy. The finalists include the team behind a machine which can change your sex in minutes, and it will be tested live on the show. HRH Prince Charles will be announcing the winner and awarding the grand prize, always supposing he is not busy somewhere else...
